When I was trying to figure out what our album cover would be, I figured we’d have to do a shoot, or design something new. But then I came across a live shot Ash had done for us within the last year and it got the wheels turning. When I went back and looked at the whole file from those shows, I realized she’d already captured the sound of the band and that’s what we should use. She invested and learned the songs beforehand. So when she came to the shows to shoot us, she was able to move around and isolate/anticipate moments. If I’m putting money down for results, I of course want someone who’s got a great eye and knows her instrument. But with Ashley, I think she also understands and gets specific about the story/image a musician wants to convey with what they put out there. She just gets it …
